Appointment of Super Eagles’ New Coach Reaches Final Ratification Stage

The NFF technical committee will sit today in Abuja to finalise on the much-awaited appointment of a new coach for the Super Eagles.

The sub-committee was inaugurated in August 2023.

The committee’s recommendations will be deliberated on by the NFF executive committee headed by president Ibrahim Gusau before the appointment is announced.

The NFF leadership is very much aware that the success or otherwise of their tenure will be defined by the results recorded by the new coach particularly as it concerns qualification to the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

It was widely reported that the NFF has drafted a final shortlist that includes several Nigerian coaches such as former international Emmanuel Amuneke and Michael Nsien, who coaches the USA U19 MYNT.

Three European managers also reportedly made the final shortlist namely  Danny Bujis from the Netherlands, Domnece Torrent from Spain, and Toni Conceicao from Portugal.
