The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced key details for the 2024/25 Inter Club competition season.
The continental soccer ruling body stated that the preliminary round of both CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup competitions will hold on the weekend of 16 to 18 August 2024.
The group stages would start from December this year, knockout phases to hold from March next year while the final games are scheduled for May 2025.
CAF listed Algeria, Angola, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, RD Congo, South Africa, Sudan, Tunisia and Tanzania as 12 countries that are eligible to present two teams each in both club competitions.
Meanwhile, CAF have asked Nigeria clubs and other affiliated countries to ensure they complete their registrations for the preliminary rounds before 20 July 2024.
The ruling body also added that there would be ‘no more transition from the CAF Champions League to the Confederation Cup for teams eliminated in the second round of the second tier tournament.

The Cubans currently occupying the last qualifying spot on the world list in 16th place. -
Paralympic Committee of Nigeria(PCN) has commenced camping exercise for its athletes in the lead up to 2024 Paralympic Games in France.
President of (PCN), Sunday Odebode, said that the para-athletics and para-badminton will be in Abuja for their camping exercise while para-powerlifting and para-table tennis will be in Lagos for the exercise.
“As you are all aware, the paralympic games is around the corner and we at PCN is not leaving any stone unturned to ensure adequate preparations for our athletes, hence the decision to commence camping in earnest. This will put the athletes in good shape during the games where we hope to excel and make the country proud,” he said.
According to Mr Odebode other federations will soon embark on their camping once venues are secured.

The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation NRFF has kick started a new brand identity which is in consonance with recently signed partnership with a consulting firm, Flovale.
The move gave rise to the sports ruling body unveiling a representative logo yesterday.
The logo features a horse symbol, stripes, and a bold green color, which transmit great ideas.
According to the NRFF, the Horse in the logo represents strength, speed, and agility – key attributes of rugby players and the country’s senior men’s national team, Black Stallions.
Stripes evoke the patterned rugby field, paying homage to the sport’s heritage and tradition.
And Green represents growth, harmony, and nature, signifying NRFF’s commitment to sport development, teamwork, and a connection with nature.
Overall, the logo embodies the values of strength, unity, and progress, reflecting NRFF’s mission to promote and develop rugby in Nigeria. -
Nigeria senior men’s rugby team Black Stallions will open their 2024 Africa Sevens Championship campaign against Team Madagascar this Saturday 29 June in Mauritius.
According to the fixtures, Nigeria will also contend with Kenya before playing hosts Mauritius in Group A of the competition.
The Stallions, under the tutelage of coach Steve Lewis had engaged in a series of matches to fine-tune their strategies and improve team cohesion.
Meanwhile, the President of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF), Dr. Ademola Are, believes recently signed multi-year partnership with Flovale marks the beginning of a new era of significant development for the ruling body, its players, and all associated partners.

Nigerian winger Prince Aggreh has challenged national team selectors to widen their search for talents instead of concentrating on Europe alone.
Aggreh who recently moved to Malaysian side Polis DiRaja Malaysia PDRM Football Club after spending last four seasons in Bahrain said, invitation to the senior national team of Nigeria should be based on what the player can provide, irrespective of where he’s based.
“Coaches need to start looking beyond place or club and see what the player can offer to the team for the benefit of the country,” he pointed out.
“It is not about the league; its about the player.”
The 27 year old former Sunshine Stars’ striker is eager to grab a second chance of invitation to the Super Eagles after making his national team bow under former coach Sunday Oliseh in 2015.
Pending when the opportunity comes, the 27 year old Aggreh is so focused on attaining loftier heights at his new club, PDRM FC where he signed a one year deal last April.
Asked about his aspirations in the new environment, the ex Insurance, Kano Pillars and defunct Ifeanyi Uba winger simply said, “To help the team win trophies.”
A check at new arrivals at PDRM revealed that Aggreh isn’t going to lack local company as a host of Nigerians have signed up with the Malaysian side.
Some of the newly signed Nigerian players are Faith Obilor, Ifedayo Olusegun, Chidi Osuchukwu among others.
Fans of PDRM are expected to glimpse Aggreh in action on 12 July 2024 when the two time Liga Premier champions open their campaign in the upcoming season against Kuching FC. -
Newly crowned champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League Rangers International have entered into a technical partnership with a women’s football club side.
According to Rangers, the partnership with Green Foot FC will lead to the Enugu based club investing in various ways in the women’s team.
“We are glad to announce an exciting new technical partnership between Rangers International FC Enugu and Green Foot Ladies Enugu. Through this collaboration, Rangers International FC will provide comprehensive support to Green Foot Ladies to foster the growth and development of women’s football in our community,” reads a statement on Rangers’ social media network.
“This partnership underscores our commitment to promoting inclusivity, excellence, and opportunity in the sport we love. Together, we aim to nurture talent, enhance skills, and elevate the profile of women’s football in Enugu and beyond.”
Under Amobi Ezeaku, Rangers’ chairman, the club has gone into various partnership and sponsorship deals, geared towards repositioning the eight time domestic champions.
The successes of Rangers on and off the pitch are expected to rub off on the fortunes of Green Foot who are also based in Enugu.
Continental football will return to Enugu, popularly called Coal City, next season when Rangers fly the country’s flag in Africa’s premier club competition, the CAF Champions League. -
Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr and his family are grieving over a terrible loss after their son, DeAndre Jones, took his own life on June 22 at the age of 32.
“Unfortunately, my son DeAndre took his life on Saturday,” the former boxing champion and Olympic silver medalist wrote on both Twitter and Instagram.
“I’m so thankful that God allowed me to come home Friday night to spend the last night of his life with me and the family.”
“I know a lot of people are going through tough times right now, but nothing is worth taking your own life,” Jones continued.
“God gives it and God should be the one to take it away. Please respect our privacy while my family and I process this loss. Thank you for the love and support.”
In addition to Jones Jr., DeAndre is survived by his mother Natlyn and brothers Roy III and DeShaun Jones. -
The Nigeria Tennis Federation has listed a five man squad that will fly the country’s flag in the 2024 Davis Cup Africa Group III qualifying next month in Abuja.
Spearheading the team list is Nigeria’s number one player David Ekpeyong alongside US-based Christopher Bulus, who had an unbeaten start to his Davis Cup debut last year.
Experienced player Uche Oparaoji is also on the team while Micheal Emmanuel and Nigeria’s highest ranked junior player Daniel Adeleye complete the list.
Coach Benson Ishicheli who masterminded Nigeria’s qualification from Group IV in Rwanda will lead the team to ensure Nigeria moves into World Group II.

The new and improved Dambe Warriors League finally stormed back to Kano Sunday 23 June 2024.
An overflowing crowd at the Ado Bayero Square enjoyed nine battles featuring the world’s greatest Dambe fighters throughout the afternoon and early evening.
In the Lightweight division, top-ranked KURMA fell at the hands of veteran KUDAWA by a score of 87-84, while YAR MAGE was out to prove that his defeat earlier this year was a fluke with an 87-84 trouncing of NASSARAWA.
Meanwhile, Season 01 champion and Season 02 runner-up ZAYYANU continued to struggle after getting thoroughly dominated by a resurgent, and newly #1 ranked, CHINDO who tallied a lopsided score of 88-84.
Among the men in the Middleweight category, RAMADAN returned to form by crushing DAN NIGERIA by an uneven score of 89-81 to regain his home atop the rankings.
Arguably though, the most exciting matchup came between two young upstarts, DOGON MESSI and SHAABAN, with the former narrowly defeating his opponent by a score of 87-86 in a result that had many fans clamoring for more.
Lastly, much to the sellout crowd’s delight, fan-favorite ZAZU continued his surprising winning streak with a 88-85 over a disappointing YASANDA who seems overmatched this Season 03 by his fellow warriors.

DOGO MAITAKWASARA regained his #1 ranking with a hard fought victory over newcomer TARASA 87-85.
Season 01 runner-up DUTSE bested Season 02 runner-up ALI KANIN BELLO by a narrow 86-84 margin, while YANSANDA eliminated SHAMSU by TKO.
After the fight, it was discovered that SHAMSU had been involved in unsanctioned Dambe fights, meaning he will be subject to discipline prior to Circuit Fight 14.
