Goals by Blessing Okpe and Peace Effiong ensured Rivers Angels’ qualification for the final of the 2024 women’s President Federation Cup.
The multiple league champions defeated secured a hard-earned 2-1 win over Delta Queens today in their semi final contest at the Awka City Stadium.
The Port Harcourt club took the lead through Okpe as early as the third minute following a cross from Aminat Folorunsho.
They doubled their lead three minutes later with Effiong slotting the ball home from close range.
Okpala Maureen reduced the deficit for Delta Queens from the spot just before the break to make for a frantic finish, however, Angels held on to win the fiercely contested last four game.
In another semi-final played at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium, Enugu, Naija Ratels defeated Remo Stars Ladies 7-6 on penalties.
The game ended 2-2 in normal time.
The final of the competition will be played next week Saturday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos.
