Team Nigeria in Final Battle for Ticket to Billie Jean King Cup World Group II

Nigeria will slug it out with South Africa and Kenya for a chance to qualify for the World Group II of the Billie Jean King Cup in Nairobi.

The Nigerian ladies finished with an impressive record of 8 set wins and one loss in Pool C of the Africa Group III qualifier.

In conclusion of the group phase today, the prodigiously talented Nigeria’s Oyinlonmo Quadre smashed Chelsea Chakanyuka of Botswana 6-2, 6-0, but things leveled up after Divine Nweke slumped 2-6, 4-6 to Ekua Youri in the second singles tie.

Nigeria wrapped up a 2-1 win as the duo of Quadre and Adesuwa Osabuohiem combined to out smash their Botswanan opponents 6-1, 6-0, earning the West Africans a top spot finish in Group C.

The stage is now set for Nigeria, Group A winners South Africa and Pool B queens Kenya to battle for the sole ticket to the Group II of the world cup of tennis.
